Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1 large Onion sliced
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 8 slices Rye bread
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter. Cook onions until caramelized, about 10 minutes.
  2. 2. Form ground beef into 4 patties. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. 3. In the same skillet, cook patties until browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  4. 4. Place a slice of cheese on each patty and let it melt.
  5. 5. Toast the rye bread slices in the skillet until golden brown.
  6. 6. Assemble the patty melts by placing a patty with melted cheese and caramelized onions between two slices of toasted rye bread.
