Ingredients 

Pastry

  • 500 g plain flour
  • 250 g butter cold and diced
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 6 tablespoon cold water or as needed

Filling

  • 300 g beef skirt diced
  • 200 g potatoes diced
  • 150 g swede diced
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg beaten, for glazing

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C (428°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add water gradually to form a dough. Wrap in cling film and chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Roll out the pastry and cut into circles. Mix beef, potatoes, swede, and onion in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Place filling on one half of each pastry circle. Fold over and crimp the edges to seal. Brush with beaten egg.
  5. Place pasties on a baking tray and bake for 50 minutes or until golden brown.
