Ingredients

  • 8 oz Elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup Butter
  • ¼ cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Milk
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Black pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. 2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, until bubbly.
  3. 3. Gradually whisk in the milk. Cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and bubbles.
  4. 4. Remove from heat and stir in the cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. 5. Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni. Pour into a baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes, or until bubbly and golden.
