  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup butter, melted

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cherries and ½ cup of sugar. Let it sit while you prepare the batter.
  3. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and the remaining ½ cup of sugar.
  4. Stir in the milk and melted butter until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish. Spoon the cherry mixture evenly over the batter.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
