- 4 cups fresh cherries, pitted
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup butter, melted
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine the cherries and ½ cup of sugar. Let it sit while you prepare the batter.
In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and the remaining ½ cup of sugar.
Stir in the milk and melted butter until just combined.
Pour the batter into a greased baking dish. Spoon the cherry mixture evenly over the batter.
Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean.
