Ingredients 

Batter

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 8 wooden skewers
  • vegetable oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together milk and eggs.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  5. Insert wooden skewers into hot dogs.
  6. Dip each hot dog into the batter, coating it completely.
  7. Fry corn dogs in hot oil until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
  8. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
