Chicken and Broth
- 1 whole chicken cut into pieces
- 8 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups carrots sliced
- 2 cups celery sliced
- 1 large onion chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon black pepper to taste
Dumplings
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 4 tablespoon butter melted
1. In a large pot, combine chicken, broth, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
2. Remove chicken from pot and shred the meat, discarding the bones. Return shredded chicken to the pot.
3. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until just combined.
4. Drop spoonfuls of dumpling batter into the simmering pot. Cover and cook for 10 minutes, until dumplings are cooked through.
