Ingredients

  • 4 cups stale bread, cubed
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ cup raisins optional

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Add cubed bread and raisins (if using) to the mixture. Stir until bread is well coated.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Let it cool slightly before serving.
