Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 kg beef bones preferably with marrow
  • 2 large carrots chopped
  • 2 stalks celery chopped
  • 1 large onion quartered
  • 4 cloves garlic smashed
  • 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon pepper to taste
  • 3 liters water enough to cover

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the beef bones on a baking sheet and roast for 30 minutes.
  2. 2. Transfer the roasted bones to a large stockpot. Add the carrots, celery, onion, garlic, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper.
  3. 3. Pour in enough water to cover the bones and vegetables. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  4. 4. Simmer for at least 8 hours, skimming off any foam or fat that rises to the surface.
  5. 5. Strain the broth through a fine-mesh strainer and discard the solids. Let the broth cool, then refrigerate or freeze for later use.
