Turnover Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup ice water
- 2 cups apples peeled, cored, and diced
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 large egg beaten, for egg wash
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water, mixing until dough forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
In another bowl, combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Set aside.
Roll out dough on a floured surface to ⅛-inch thickness. Cut into 6-inch squares.
Place apple mixture in the center of each square. Fold over to form a triangle and seal edges with a fork. Brush with beaten egg.
Place turnovers on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
