Ingredients 

Turnover Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup ice water
  • 2 cups apples peeled, cored, and diced
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 large egg beaten, for egg wash

Instructions 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water, mixing until dough forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Set aside.
  4. Roll out dough on a floured surface to ⅛-inch thickness. Cut into 6-inch squares.
  5. Place apple mixture in the center of each square. Fold over to form a triangle and seal edges with a fork. Brush with beaten egg.
  6. Place turnovers on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
