UglyFood Recipes: Overripe Fruits Edition!

This week, we will be featuring two recipes for overripe fruits. Our main stars for this edition will be overripe bananas and strawberries!

When we store fruits for too long, they tend to overripe and turn mushy in texture. Some people might not enjoy the taste and choose to throw them away. However, there are many uses for overripe fruits and they are especially ideal for baking. This edition features two recipes- Banana Bread and Strawberry Jam.

  • About 6 Small Overripe Bananas (Often turning black)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 baking soda
  • Half cup butter
  • 3/4 brown sugar 
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs

  • 900g overripe strawberries (or any other berries)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 400g sugar 

With these recipes, you will never have to stress about having to deal with overripe fruits that are too mushy to be eaten! At the same time, you will be able to help reduce food waste by making use of these precious fruits for baking yummy bread and jam :)
